**In short:** Compact push trolleys in current listings fold to roughly 33 to 41 cm by 33 to 45 cm by 53 to 61 cm, such as the Clicgear 4.5 at 33 x 38 x 61 cm and the Caddytek CaddyLite at 41 x 36 x 53 cm. A remote electric trolley in our listings folds to 79 x 39 x 29 cm. Measure your boot floor and height under the parcel shelf and compare.

The most common reason a golf trolley goes back to the shop is that it will not fit in the car with the clubs. Folded sizes are not always given, and when they are, they mix inches and centimetres. This reference collects the folded dimensions stated in current listings for push and electric trolleys, converts them to centimetres, explains how to measure your boot properly and gives tips for fitting trolley, bag and shoes into a small hatchback.

## Folded sizes from current listings

Where a listing gives item dimensions rather than a stated folded size, we mark it as listed dimensions. Some listings give no folded size at all, including the Motocaddy Z1, PowaKaddy Micra and PowaKaddy FX models; for those, check the maker's specifications. Packaged weights include the box.

| Trolley | Type | Folded size | Weight |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Clicgear 4.5 | Push | 33 x 38 x 61 cm (13 x 15 x 24 in) | 7.26 kg packaged |
| Caddytek CaddyLite | Push | 41 x 36 x 53 cm (16 x 14 x 21 in) | 8.21 kg |
| Newfly one click | Push | 41 x 36 x 53 cm | Under 8.6 kg |
| YMDXONE three wheeler | Push | 37 x 45 x 53 cm | 10.3 kg packaged |
| Clicgear Rovic RV1C 2.0 | Push | 38 x 33 x 60 cm (listed dimensions) | 9.1 kg |
| Qwik-Fold | Push | 30.5 x 30.5 x 76.2 cm (listed dimensions) | 7.98 kg |
| Clicgear 8.0+ | Push | 68.6 x 38.1 x 43.2 cm (listed dimensions) | Not reliably stated |
| Remote 3 wheel trolley | Electric | 79 x 39 x 29 cm | Not stated |

## Cube folds against flat folds

Compact push trolleys fold into a cube shape, roughly 35 to 45 cm on each side, which sits upright in a boot and leaves room beside it for a bag. Flat folding designs, more common on electric trolleys, are longer and lower, for example 79 cm long but only 29 cm high on the remote trolley above. A flat fold may slide under a parcel shelf in a hatchback where a taller cube would not. Neither is better; it depends on your boot shape.

## How to measure your boot

Remember the bag. A cart bag is around 90 cm long and needs to lie across the boot or go on the back seat. Shoes, waterproofs and an umbrella take space too.

1. Measure the boot floor from the back seats to the boot lip, at floor level.
2. Measure the width between the wheel arches, which is usually the narrowest point.
3. Measure the height from the floor to the parcel shelf or load cover.
4. Note the height of the boot opening, which may be lower than the inside.
5. Compare each trolley's three folded dimensions with these, allowing room for your bag.

## Tips for small boots

Our [compact push trolley guide](https://pinandyard.co.uk/best/best-compact-push-golf-trolleys) ranks trolleys by their stated folded size, and the [push trolley guide](https://pinandyard.co.uk/best/best-push-golf-trolleys) covers larger models with more storage.

- Choose a cube fold and stand it upright in one corner.
- Lay the bag diagonally across the boot if it is too long to lie straight.
- Remove the parcel shelf on golf days if your car allows it.
- Use quick release wheels, where fitted, to shrink the folded size further.
- Keep the battery of an electric trolley in the footwell, secured so it cannot move.

Note: Secure trolleys and batteries in the boot so they cannot slide forward under braking. Lift with bent knees and keep the load close to your body; get help with heavy electric trolleys.

## Electric trolleys and boot space

Electric trolleys are bigger and heavier than push trolleys, and most have a separate battery lifted out before folding. Listings for some popular electric models do not give folded sizes, so check the maker's figures before you buy. Compact electric designs exist from several brands. Our [electric trolley guide](https://pinandyard.co.uk/best/best-electric-golf-trolleys) notes folded sizes where listings state them.
