  • Listed battery life of up to 4 years per sensor.

Good to know

Our take

How the sensors work

Each sensor sits in the end of a grip and tells a compatible Garmin watch which club has been used. The watch then records where the shot was played from and where the next one starts, building a picture of distances and accuracy.

Stats for each club appear on the watch when you pull that club from the bag, so you can see your typical distance before you swing.

Setup is a one-off job: fit each sensor, pair the set with your watch and assign each sensor to a club. After that, the system runs in the background while you play.

Stats and analysis

Garmin says the data supports analysis of strokes gained and other stats used on tour. You can see how far you typically hit each club, as well as accuracy to the fairway or green. Over a season, that shows where shots are being lost.

Compatibility

The listing names compatible devices including the Approach S20, S40, S60, S62 and several fenix, Forerunner and MARQ watches. In the Garmin range covered here, the Approach S44 and S12 listings also describe pairing with CT10 trackers. Check your own watch model before buying.

Battery and build

Each sensor weighs 9 g and measures 13 x 13 x 28 mm. Battery life is listed at up to four years. Garmin provides a two year manufacturer warranty, and spare parts are listed as available for four years. The full pack contains 14 sensors, enough for a full bag.

A four year battery life means most golfers will rarely think about the sensors once installed.

Who should not buy it

Golfers who do not own a compatible Garmin watch will need one first; the CT10 has no display of its own. Anyone who wants swing speed rather than shot tracking should look at the Approach G80 instead, and golfers who only care about green yardages will not need sensors at all.

Verdict

Buy the CT10 full pack if you already wear a compatible Garmin watch such as the S44, S60 or S12 and want hands-free shot tracking with detailed stats. If you need a display of your own, choose one of those watches first, and for swing speed data, look at the Approach G80.
