The fold

Clicgear describes a patented 4 x Fold with a V-Slide to close and a patented foot guard to make closing easier. Amazon lists dimensions of 68.6 x 38.1 x 43.2 cm, though it is not clear whether those are folded or packaging figures. Weight is listed as 1 kg, which cannot be correct for an aluminium trolley, so treat that number with caution.

A fold that collapses in several directions usually results in a flatter package, which can slide under a parcel shelf or sit beside a bag rather than on top of it.

Braking and tracking

Dual front brakes give more holding power on slopes than a single foot brake. Adjustable tracking lets you correct the trolley if it drifts left or right, which is especially useful on cambered fairways where a trolley can pull to one side over a round.

The ultralight airless wheels need no pumping and cannot puncture.

Console and bag fit

A large console with a magnetic closure holds accessories, and a large storage net adds space lower down. Silicone bag straps grip the bag, and Amazon lists four dividers and one pocket. The tubing is powder coated and scratch resistant, available in two colours. Clicgear gives a 12 month warranty.

A magnetic closure on the console keeps gloves, balls and keys secure when the trolley bumps along a rough path, which an open tray cannot do.

8.0+ against the Clicgear 4.5 and Motocaddy Z1

The Clicgear 4.5 is more compact in some dimensions, with a single front-wheel hand brake and a command centre console. The Motocaddy Z1 weighs a listed 4.53 kg and has a foot parking brake. The 8.0+ prioritises braking and tracking adjustment.

Who should choose another trolley

If you need the smallest folded size for a tiny boot, the Caddytek CaddyLite or Clicgear 4.5 may suit better. Golfers who want swivel steering should look at the Qwik-Fold 360 or KVV three wheeler.
