Our take
Distances at a button press
Press the B button and the Mini reads out distances to the front, centre and back of the green. The listing mentions more than 38,000 courses, plus audible first tee introductions and custom sound bites.
There is no screen described, so this is purely about hearing the numbers. For many club golfers who only ask for the middle of the green, that is enough.
Mounting options
The BITE magnetic mount sticks the Mini to a cart bar, and the included carabiner clip lets you hang it on a golf bag. That second option is what sets it apart for walkers: you can keep it on the bag when there is no metal frame to grip.
Audio and battery
TWS pairing lets you sync two Wingman Minis for a fuller sound, according to the listing. The specs list 30 W output, a Bluetooth range of 10 metres and a 10 hour battery. The bundle adds a USB-C cable and the PlayBetter portable charger, which can top it up on the way round if you forget to charge.
One oddity: the specs say both water resistant and not waterproof, so treat it as shower proof at best and keep it out of heavy rain.
Who should skip it
If you ride in a buggy most weeks, the small size and bag clip bring little benefit, and a larger Wingman with more runtime makes more sense. Golfers who want to see hazards or green shapes will also need a model with a screen. And because the listing gives a Bluetooth range of 10 metres, keep the phone you stream music from close to the bag.
Compared with its siblings
The Wingman 2 runs for a stated 14+ hours and adds a microphone for calls. The Wingman View has an LCD for hazard numbers. The Mini gives up both for size and the bag clip.
Verdict
Choose the Wingman Mini if you walk, want spoken yardages and like the option of clipping it to your bag. If you play long days in a buggy, the Wingman 2's longer battery is more useful, and if you want to see hazard distances, the Wingman View is the better fit.
