The Wingman HD is for golfers who like music on the buggy but also want to see the hole, not just hear a number. Earlier Wingman speakers were built around audible yardages. This one adds a 3.5 inch colour touchscreen with hole layouts and green shapes, which turns the speaker into something close to a handheld GPS that happens to play music.

Our take

What the screen adds

Bushnell describes the display as a 3.5 inch HD touchscreen showing front, centre and back distances in colour. Hole and GreenView images give the layout of each hole and the outline of the green, so you can see whether the flag is tucked behind a bunker or sitting on a back tier.

Hazards and layup points appear as on-screen icons for bunkers, water and layups. For a golfer who normally only asks for the middle of the green, that is a real step up in course management.

Sound and mounting

Two 15 W speakers with passive radiators are listed, giving 360 degree sound. That suits a shared buggy where both players want to hear the callouts. The BITE magnetic mount sticks the unit to a cart bar, and the box also has a USB charging cable, a lanyard with carabiner clip and a cleaning cloth.

Amazon lists the weight at 1.13 kg with dimensions of 8.9 x 7 x 21 cm. On a buggy that hardly matters, but on a light push trolley it is a fair lump to clip on.

Gaps in the listing

This listing does not state battery life or the number of preloaded courses. Both matter, so check them with the seller or on the Bushnell Golf app page before relying on it for a 36 hole day. App pairing is mentioned for extra course data and product updates.

Against the other speakers

The Mileseey GeneSonic Pro takes a different route: its screen sits on a detachable handheld you can carry to the ball, and the maker states 15 hours of battery and 43,000+ courses. The Wingman View is the simpler Bushnell, with an LCD showing up to six hazard numbers rather than full colour hole images.

Verdict

Choose the Wingman HD if you ride in a buggy, want the largest colour screen of any speaker here and value strong sound. If you walk with a push trolley, or want stated battery and course figures before buying, the Mileseey GeneSonic Pro is the safer comparison, while the Wingman View costs you less screen detail for a simpler unit.
