The GeneSonic Pro is aimed at golfers who cannot decide between a GPS speaker and a handheld GPS. Mileseey's answer is to build both into one product: the speaker body clips to the trolley or buggy, and a GPS handheld with its own colour touchscreen pops out so you can take the yardages to your ball.

Our take

How the two parts work

The handheld detaches from the speaker body and, according to the listing, works like a remote: tap it to hear audible distances and control music. It finds satellites on its own and recognises the course and hole automatically, so there is no phone link needed for the basics.

On the screen you get hole view, green view, layups, hazard information and shot tracking, which goes well beyond plain front, centre and back numbers.

Courses, battery and build

Mileseey states more than 43,000 preloaded courses with no subscription. If your course is new or missing, the listing says the maker can add it remotely within a week once you send the name and location. Battery life is listed at 15 hours, and the box holds the handheld, speaker body, a USB-C cable, a quick start guide and the manual.

The speaker produces 40 W through a dual band crossover. The mount uses four magnets rated at 126 N, and the screen is recessed with reinforced corners to protect it from knocks. Amazon lists a 2 year manufacturer warranty.

Weight and practicality

The listed weight is 1.5 kg, which is heavy for a speaker. On a buggy that hardly registers, but on a light push trolley you will notice it, and you need a metal surface for the magnets to grip.

Compared with Bushnell

The Bushnell Wingman HD has a larger 3.5 inch screen fixed to the speaker, so you read it at the buggy rather than at the ball. The Wingman 2 is audio first, with 14+ hours of runtime and no screen described. The GeneSonic Pro sits between them, with a portable screen and the longest stated battery of the three.

Verdict

Buy the GeneSonic Pro if you want a screen you can walk to your ball with, no yearly fees and strong audio in one purchase. If you only want callouts and music, the Bushnell Wingman 2 is simpler, and if a larger fixed screen matters more than portability, look at the Bushnell Wingman HD instead.
