Our take
Course detail without a phone
Mileseey states more than 43,000 preloaded courses on a 3 inch full colour touchscreen, with no subscription and no phone connection needed. Beyond front, centre and back yardages it shows green view, hazard information, layups, shot tracking and a scorecard.
Automatic course and hole recognition means it picks up where you are without menus. If your course is new or missing, the listing says the maker can add it within a week once you send the details.
Mounting and carrying
A magnetic grip holds it on a push trolley or buggy frame, and the listing says it stays put over bumpy fairways. A carabiner and pouch are included for clipping it to a belt or bag. Amazon lists the weight at 200 g, light enough for a pocket.
Battery and weather
Battery life is given as 10 hours, which covers a round and some practice but not a 36 hole day. The IP67 rating is the strongest weather protection quoted by any handheld in this comparison, so rain, dew and bunker sand should not be a worry.
One limit to note: the device itself does not play audio. The listing says sound comes only through a paired GeneSonic Pro speaker.
Setting it up
There is little to set up. Charge it with the supplied USB-C cable, switch it on at the course and let it find satellites and the hole. Course updates are handled by the maker rather than through a paid plan, according to the listing. If you already own the GeneSonic Pro speaker, the Go pairs with it to give audible yardages, which is the only way it produces sound.
Against other handhelds
The Garmin Approach G20 Solar runs far longer, up to 36 rounds without sun according to Garmin, but has a smaller 2.2 inch button screen. The Shot Scope H50 has a larger AMOLED touchscreen with green contours. The GeneSonic Go sits between them on screen size.
Verdict
Buy the GeneSonic Go if you want a colour touchscreen, no fees and the best weather rating here. If you hate charging, the Garmin Approach G20 Solar is the better choice, and if you want the largest screen with green contours, look at the Shot Scope H50.
